 The Golden Delicious apple variety originated in West Virginia, USA as a delicious accident. A large, yellowish-green skinned cultivar, the fruit is very sweet to taste. It is prone to bruising and shriveling, and needs careful handling and storage. The fruit can be consumed as a table fruit, and has also been rated as the most superior variety for baking apple pies.
